Classics Remake

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are set to remake movie classics "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" and "Red Sonja". And their choice of leading ladies is quite interesting too. Tarantino has approached porn star Tera Patrick to play Tura Satana's role of Varla in Russ Meyers "Faster, Pussycat!" and Patrick is all in favor of it saying "I was built for this part."
Robert Rodriguez has asked girlfriend Rose McGowan to take on Brigitte Nielsen's leading lady of "Red Sonja". Rose claims she not sure why she was asked to play the part, but Rodriguez counters saying his gal is perfect for the role.

While neither Rose or Tera aren't obvious choices amongst your average viewer, both directors are more than confident their leading ladies are obvious choices and won't result in catastrophe like so many other remakes.

Indi Gold

After six weeks in theaters and still playing in over 2500 theaters, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull looks to be the next film to follow in the steps of Marvels Iron Man. As of this last weekend, Indy Jones is currently sitting at $299.9 million and will be the second film of the year to break the $300 million mark and is seemingly ahead of where Iron Man was at this same point (Iron Man was only at $288.8 million in week six). Can Harrison's newest turn as Indiana Jones "whip" current box office wonder Iron Man, or will he come up short ("Damn, I thought that was closer.")?

There's strong and then there's "Iron Strong"

After taking a friend out this weekend to see Iron Man for their first time and my third time, I realized that it is still every bit as good as it was when I saw it shortly after opening weekend. And even though I know what's coming, the comedy, drama, and action are still impressive. Here it is, nine weeks later (most films are hard pressed to be out nearly as long) and Iron Man has raked in over $309 million (the first film of the year to break $300 million) and is still playing in well over 1000 theaters. At that kind of rate, it still has a fair amount of steam. And let's not forget the money it's making internationally or the money it will make from DVD sales. Even Marvel couldn't have dreamed up a better outcome.
